Information

Each regatta is a unique experience, offering diverse formats and exciting challenges. While every race is different, the core structure remains the same. We meet at the starting harbor, and for those looking to dive in from the very beginning, you can join us for the yacht transfer to the start location.

After a warm welcome and a thorough safety briefing, we jump straight into preparatory training. Roles and responsibilities on board are assigned, and every maneuver is practiced to perfection. Once the starting signal sounds, we’ll set sail for a thrilling few days at sea, depending on the program and duration of the race.

Rolex Middle Sea Race

The Rolex Middle Sea Race is a regatta around Sicily, organized by the Royal Malta Yacht Club (RMYC). Covering 606 nautical miles, the race starts and finishes in Malta and has, since 1978, taken the fleet counterclockwise around the Italian island of Sicily, including the Aeolian and Aegadian Islands.

This prestigious regatta attracts some of the world’s largest racing yachts, all competing for the coveted Line Honours (First Ship Home).

Gebirgssegler Cup

The GSC is part of the Austrian Offshore Trophy regattas. Ten First 35 yachts compete in the one-design class with spinnakers for the GSC Trophy, while all other boats race in the ORC class with additional sails. Within the ORC class, a dedicated one-design group scoring is conducted for the Bavaria 46 fleet.

Due to the minimal deviation in measurement certificates (within decimal margins), the OD is included in this group. If exceptionally close results affect the final standings, the race committee reserves the right to adjust these decisions.

In the ORC class, all boats are ranked based on their measurement certificates, and these results are officially submitted to the Austrian Sailing Federation (OeSV) for the Austrian Offshore Trophy.

Barcolana

The Barcolana is the largest sailing regatta in the world, held annually on the second Sunday of October in Trieste. It’s a unique event where professionals, amateurs, and sailing enthusiasts share the same starting line and celebrate together in the city.

In 2018, during its 50th edition, the Barcolana entered the Guinness World Records as “The Largest Sailing Race in the World,” with 2,869 participating sailboats and over 300,000 visitors flocking to the city to witness this iconic event.

Fastnetrace

The Fastnet Race is one of the most demanding and prestigious sailing races in the world, held every two years. The course runs from Cowes on the Isle of Wight, England, to Fastnet Rock off the southwest coast of Ireland, and finishes in Cherbourg. Covering approximately 690 nautical miles, sailors face the challenges of rough seas and shifting winds.

Few regattas carry the legendary status of the Rolex Fastnet Race, first held in 1925. Participating at least once in this iconic race through the Irish Sea is considered a “must-have” achievement in many sailing careers, whether professional or amateur.

Velenziana

This classic regatta is the only sailing event in the world where participants can arrive under full sail in the St. Mark’s Basin.

The Veleziana, organized by the Compagnia della Vela, follows a course that starts in the open sea off the Lido of Venice and finishes in the lagoon in front of St. Mark’s Square. It’s not just a spectacle, but a race that demands a unique tactical approach. The transition from the sea to the lagoon, with its currents, narrow channels, and shifting winds, creates an entirely different set of challenges and conditions for sailors.

ÖsterreichISCHE HOCHSEE Staatsmeisterschaft

The Austrian National Championships are the ultimate showdown for the country’s best sailors: a gathering of champions competing across various classes and disciplines to showcase their skills. Whether it’s high-speed races, challenging maneuvers, or tactical brilliance, this event guarantees excitement and top-tier sailing.

Join us as we race alongside the best sailors in the country, battling for the coveted national championship title and conquering the waves of Austria’s waters!

Aegean 600

The Sea of Myths and Legends. The sea of Homer, Seferis, and Elytis. The sea of painters and philosophers. The sea of sailors. 600 miles of sailing on these historic waters.

An offshore race by sailors, for sailors. A race where the wind god Aeolus plays his own games to test the seamanship of the crews. A race where dolphins accompany the boats, urging them toward the finish line. A race filled with enchanting sunrises and sunsets. A race where mythology intertwines with sport on a one-of-a-kind aquatic stage.

This is the Aegean 600: a nonstop race like no other.

Die Fiumanka Regatta

The Fiumanka Regatta is a June event that celebrated its 25th edition this year. As Rijeka’s largest sailing regatta, it blends sailing, sport, economic promotion, and entertainment.
This regatta holds the distinction of being the first public event to successfully clear the port of Rijeka for a sporting event! It’s also the only regatta in Croatia that is fully broadcast on television, charges no entry fees for participants, and rewards all sailors, regardless of their results. On its humanitarian side, Fiumanka donates to various organizations, children’s hospitals, and sports clubs, making it a truly unique event.

The Jabuka Regatta

Organized by the Tijat Sailing Club in Vodice, this legendary offshore regatta takes sailors on a 110-mile course from Vodice to the mystical island of Jabuka and back. Starting in the evening, the route to Jabuka is marked by strong winds and the physically demanding challenge of long-distance sailing.

Held in mid-November, the Jabuka Regatta is Croatia’s most extreme race, thanks to the unpredictable winter weather on the open sea. While only 15 teams participated in its inaugural edition, the regatta has grown in popularity each year, now attracting over 100 sailboats and predominantly international competitors.

1,000 Insel Regatta

The Rijeka Sailing Club and the Porto Montenegro Yacht Club organize a challenging and scenic regatta from Rijeka to Tivat at the end of September, passing by 1.000 Adriatic Islands along its course! The regatta is divided into two stages, and sailors can choose to compete in the first stage, the second stage, or both. The first leg takes participants from Rijeka through Unije, Susak, Premuda, Dugi Otok, Kornat, Vis, Lastovo, and Sveti Andrija, finishing at the Porto Montenegro Marina in Tivat. Along the way, sailors are rewarded with breathtaking scenery.

After the awards ceremony for the first leg, the fleet sets sail in the opposite direction, retracing the same stunning route back to Rijeka!

AROUND SUSAK

A sailing regatta designed for cruisers, sailed either double-handed or with a full crew. The route runs from Ičići to Susak and back to Ičići, with the ACI Marina Opatija serving as the central hub for the crews.

In 2024, the regatta will take place for the sixth time, organized by the Yacht Club Opatija.
