RESPONSIBILITY
For Oceans & Coasts
Anchoring responsibly to protect the climate and coastline. Minimizing waste, disposing of it correctly, recycling, and using environmentally friendly products for boat care, such as antifouling, are all essential steps to preserving our waters.achten.
Together with our Partner, we aim to make a conscious contribution to safeguarding the wonders of this world. Awareness and environmental stewardship are key elements of holistic entrepreneurship in the sailing industry for us.
OUR RESPONSIBILITY
As water sports enthusiasts, we have a special responsibility to protect these delicate ecosystems. By practicing mindful anchoring, responsibly using products, and adhering to best practices like recycling, we can help preserve the beauty and diversity of the marine environment.
Under the label “Awareness & Environment,” we’ve brought together our initiatives. You can find more details about them below.

PROTECT SEAGRASS & THE CLIMATE
Enjoy the beauty of anchoring in a bay, but be sure to do so responsibly. Seagrass meadows are vital for marine life and act as a natural defense against erosion. They also serve as nurseries for many fish species.
By dropping your anchor only in designated areas on clear sandy patches, you help preserve these critical ecosystems and support climate protection. Seagrass captures carbon up to 35 times faster than tropical rainforests and absorbs 10% of the ocean’s carbon each year.

Marine Conservation & Beach Clean-Ups
Of course, we also take action ourselves: Beach clean-ups are a regular practice, and Mare Mundi organizes them frequently as part of their project weeks. During the last clean-up, for instance, 2,500 cigarette butts were collected in just 30 minutes. These cigarette filters, made of plastic fibers, are highly durable, non-biodegradable, and pose a serious threat to marine life.
In addition, the sheer amount of plastic waste on our beaches is alarming. Microplastic particles endanger not only flora and fauna but also our own health.

Mindful Use of Chemicals in Boat Maintenance
From basic cleaning products to polishing paste and antifouling paint, yacht maintenance involves the use of many chemical substances. Antifouling coatings, for instance, often contain highly effective but toxic biocides. These biocides can leach into the environment, potentially harming ecosystems. It’s therefore essential to use them in a way that minimizes their impact on people and nature.
The same applies to cleaning products of all kinds. We strive to use products that are as eco-friendly as possible, reducing the strain on marine and coastal ecosystems.
